Why IELTS?

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) measures the language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as a language of communication.

Academic

The IELTS Academic test is for people applying for higher education or professional registration in a country which has English as a native language. It reflects some of the features of academic language and assesses whether an individual is ready to begin studying or training.

General Training

The IELTS General Training proves that an individual has practical, everyday English language skills. IELTS General Training measures English language proficiency in a practical, everyday context. The tasks and test reflect both workplace and social situations of day to day life.

Test Pattern

Reading

Reading skills assessment has 60 minutes duration with marking scale of 0-9 bands. Reading has 3 passages and 40 questions. Each question is worth one mark, with main goal to judge an individual’s comprehension skills.

Writing

Writing skills assessment duration is 60 minutes, with marking scale of 0-9 bands. It consists of 2 tasks (Writing Task 1 and Writing Task 2) and candidates must attempt both tasks.

Listening

The duration of Listening tests is of 40 minutes, with marking scale of 0-9 bands. IELTS Listening has four sections, each with 10 items (or questions), each item is worth one mark.

Speaking

Speaking duration is 11-14 minutes with scoring scale of 0-9 bands. IELTS Speaking is a one-to-one interaction between the candidate and an examiner. It includes a general introduction, a cue card (task card) round and some follow up questions based on the topic of cue card.
